Description
okwetonganira kwa Stefie (Stefie’s speech) is a collection of poems written primarily in english and runyankole. The collection is the second set in a trilogy coming after ebyeshongoro bya Debra (songs of Debra). The trilogy itself is named ebyabandizeho (the first ones).
The collection(s) is a going back through our histories to confront the ways in which our societies have been formed, while writing and weaving for ways in which we can form new worlds. As she writes, Twasiima intends to use facts, wit and honest reflections to call attention to questions of identity, religion, loss, socio-economic realities and several other related themes. She writes with the intention to preserve collective memory and radically reimagine the world and our lives in it.
okwetonganira kwa Stefie is set out in five chapters dubbed ‘The Canonical Books’ by the author.
